Berkeley, CA — September 17, 2009— After two years of extensive renovation the historic Hotel Shattuck Plaza will officially open its doors to the public with a celebratory ribbon cutting on Thursday Sept. 24th and an opening night gala with key community figures on Saturday Sept. 26th. The boutique hotel, which opened limited rooms in June for special preview rates, has received rave reviews. With the completion of its ballroom, 199 guest rooms and nearly 8,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space, Hotel Shattuck Plaza is expected to become a cornerstone of the Berkeley community as it returns to the neighborhood.

“We’re so happy to finally showcase the entire completed property to the town of Berkeley,” says owner Perry Patel. “We owe so much to the community and are very proud to become a part of the greater revitalization of Downtown Berkeley by drawing in guests from all over the U.S. and providing hospitality jobs to locals.”

Hotel Shattuck Plaza is intimately intertwined with City of Berkeley and is nearing its 100th year as a downtown fixture. The Hotel Shattuck Plaza has six floors and a total of 199 redesigned guest rooms, including 17 suites. The rooms combine the classic charm of the hotel’s turn of the century roots with modern and luxurious amenities such as flat screen televisions and iPod docks. A number of rooms have stunning views of the San Francisco bay and Golden Gate Bridge.
