Guoman Hotels’ The Grosvenor restored, reopened
Guoman Hotels has announced the end of the £20 million refurbishment of London’s oldest railway hotel, The Grosvenor Victoria. The iconic Grade II-listed property, which opened in 1862, was said to have been “restored to its full Victorian splendor”.
The hotel officially becomes the fifth hotel in Guoman’s London collection.
During the course of the 18-month project Guoman worked with experts from English Heritage to preserve and revitalize the building’s original architectural features. This included the reinstatement of $157,000-worth of gold leaf on columns in the lobby, and the uncovering of original white marble on the pillars, only discovered as the works progressed.

All of The Grosvenor’s 346 bedrooms have been transformed. Added were a new residents’ gym, and meeting and conference spaces. Meanwhile, the marble staircase at the heart of the building now leads to a new destination bar, Réunion.
Other points of the full refurbishment include the restoration of the lounge area; creation of Grand Imperial, a Cantonese fine dining restaurant; creation of nine new meeting rooms on the first floor, with accommodation for groups of up to 110; a new manned business center; and the creation of three new executive suites, including a separate lounge area and heated bathroom floors.
