AVENUE HOTEL
Chicago
Avenue Hotel, a new boutique hotel concept from Driftwood Hospitality Management, made its debut in May with its first property,
located in Chicago.
Think, a design firm from Seattle, led the $16-million construction and renovation project. Ron Mitchell served as lead designer.
The Avenue Hotel Chicago's 150 one-bedroom and junior suites and 200 guestrooms cater to both business and leisure travelers
with the hotel's in-room technology and family-themed rooms. Chic, iconic design defines the hotel, with guestrooms featuring ultra-plush, zebra-striped chairs, iHome docking stations
and LCD televisions. Family-themed guestrooms come complete with games and colorful bedding to entice the entire family.
The hotel offers 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant and a top-floor bar and restaurant next to the rooftop
pool.
COPLEY SQUARE HOTEL
Boston
The historic Copley Square Hotel is undergoing a $14-million, fast-track renovation, set to be completed by summer's end.
After the redesign, features of the interior will include 143 renovated guestrooms and a new lobby décor highlighted by dramatic
backlit panels, decorative silver light fixtures, candle niches and metallic-sheen window treatments. The hotel's Back Bay
Café will be relaunched as XHALE, a casual dining restaurant.
The project's architect is Arrowstreet, the interior designer is Intra-Spec and the construction manager is Tishman Construction
Corp.
CUSTOM HOTEL
Los Angeles
Located near LAX airport, Custom Hotel's designer Avi Brosh wanted to ensure the hotel stood out from other airport fare.
The result: The hotel is painted black, and it offers a fire pit, a pool with stadium seating, a sheep's meadow lounge, vintage
vending machines, playfully themed central rooms on every floor, layover rooms, pink and green themed gyms, a bar lounge,
poolside tapas and a DJ lounge.
RADISSON ST. MARTIN RESORT, MARINA & SPA
St. Martin
In late summer, the Radisson St. Martin Resort, Marina & Spa will open, following an $80-million transformation led by CIEC
of Paris, Wilson Associates of Dallas and EDSA of Orlando.
Tropical foliage and fountains greet guests upon entrance. Guests then are led to the open-air main house, which hosts the
reception area, full-service spa and lobby bar. The 63 suites and 189 rooms feature plantation-style furnishings with vivid
colors and hand-textured finishes, such as carved beechwood headboards and mahogany-stained bathroom vanities.
